Gazipur Metropolitan police (GMP)!

Gazipur Metropolitan police (GMP) has started its journey on 16 September, 2018. Gmp has started its initial journey with the area of 128 square mile & with its population of 10,00,000. Gmp is run by the Gazipur Metropolitan police Ordinance, 2018. Mr YM Belalur Rahman, BPM was the first Police Commissioner of GMP. Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) consists of 08 police stations- Gazipur Sadar, Tongi East, Tongi West, Gacha, Bason, Konabari, Kashimpur and Pubail. Primary Divisions are Crime & OPS division, Headquarters Division, City Special Branch (City SB), Traffic Division and Detective Branch (DB). GMP is run by a Police Commissioner (DIG) with the help of 1 Addl. Police Commissioners,4 Deputy Police Commissioners, 4 Addl. Deputy Police Commissioners & 12 Asstt. Police Commissioners.  

The prime responsibility of Detective and Criminal Intelligence Division is to detect sensational crimes and to be on the track of notorious criminals. Apprehension of criminal gangs and veteran criminals and recovery of illegal firearms and explosives are preoccupation of every DB officer, alert the prosecution of Detective and Criminal Intelligence Division works in connection with the procedure in the court. Crime and Operations Division is basically responsible for policing i.e. maintaining law and order situation in the concerned area. The jobs of apprehension of the criminals warrant execution, investigation of the cases, recovery of illegal arms etc come naturally under the responsibility of this Division. Crime and Ops Division provides the service of prevention and detection of crime directly to the public through the police stations. Traffic Division plans, executes and controls the Metropolitan’s traffic system along with creating awareness for traffic rules in the public mind. 

City Special Brach provides the service of passport verification, VIP/VVIP protection, collecting intelligence directly to the public through expert and highly skilled officer.
